SYSTEMES D'INFORMATION ET DE COMMUNICATION
This case is largely based on a true story (names and places have been changed). It is drawn from professional experience of its author, who worked for nearly 15 years as an engineer for major telecommunications operators.
It describes the digital transformation project of FrontCare, a company based in Northern France which is specialised in personal care services (home and health care for elderly and dependent people, domestic help and childcare).
The company was founded in the early 2000s in Lille with around 20 employees and rapidly expanded in response to the ageing population. It has now nearly 150 employees spread across several departments in the northern half of France.
FrontCare is now struggling to manage this growth despite a corporate culture that places people at the heart of its business. It is facing major operational challenges linked to the complexity of managing schedules, ineffective internal and external communication and growing customer dissatisfaction.
It needs to carry out a thorough review of its IT infrastructure as the business is currently expanding. It has also to master the way its staff use digital tools, to ensure these are aligned with its overall strategy.
In this context, senior management issued a call for tenders to implement new digital tools and received two separate technical proposals: one from DVH and another from EquiNox.
This case study was designed with three learning objectives:
1. Provide an overview of the main tools and technologies used to collect, store, process and analyse data in businesses, particularly those operating in home and health care's services.
2. Master digital skills in a changing professional environment.
3. Understand the challenges and applications of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT) and data within organisations, and recognise their potentials and limitations, whilst also taking into account their impacts on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
