Ubisoft : Determining the Cost of Capital

The Ubisoft group is one of the world's leading developers and publishers of video games. Ubisoft has been listed on the stock exchange since 1996 and uses a variety of financing sources, including equity, bank loans, bonds and hybrid securities.
Learners are asked to calculate the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) for the Ubisoft group, using financial and stock market data.
For the cost of equity, learners must calculate the beta of the stock, based on stock market data, by selecting the benchmark, the estimation period and the frequency of returns, as well as a risk-free rate and a risk premium, from among several proposals. The learners must justify all the hypotheses retained, taking into account the environment of Ubisoft. Indeed, the group's stock market trajectory is undergoing a particular evolution compared to that of its competitors or the market. Learners will also have to estimate the market values of the various financial debts, and their cost, according to the evolution of rates on the market, as well as the borrowing history and situation of the group.
