Résumé

In the context of the development of 5G, new frequencies are proposed to mobile network operators. As there are a limited number of these frequencies, the French government has opted to auction them off. In France, four mobile network operators applied for the auction and were selected: Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, Orange and SFR. Two kinds of auctions are used for the allocation of frequencies, the first is the Vickrey auction and the second is the Milgrom and Wilson auction (Nobel Prize in Economics in 2020).
