RSE ET ETHIQUE
Société Générale is a leading European banking group, employing approximately 119,000 people and serving more than 26 million clients--including corporates, institutional investors, and individuals--across around 62 countries worldwide. The Group has set ambitious CSR objectives, including accelerating the decarbonisation of its activities, supporting clients in their sustainable transition, promoting gender equality within the organisation, and contributing to local economic and social development.
In 2024, the Group launched a global initiative, "Société Générale Philanthropy," led by the Société Générale Corporate Foundation. The Foundation operates through a dual model combining financial support and skills-based sponsorship, leveraging the expertise and engagement of the Group's employees. Its activities focus on three key areas: environment, culture, and education, the latter encompassing fundamental skills, financial literacy, education through sport and culture, and professional integration. The nonprofit partner associations supported by the Foundation vary significantly in size and stage of development.
Renewed in 2024 for a five-year period, the Société Générale Corporate Foundation benefits from a ¤55 million multi-year endowment. At the national level, its strategy aims to strengthen support for non-profit organisations, with an increased focus on local and regional anchoring.
As part of this new mandate, the Foundation seeks to place social impact at the core of its strategy. Social impact is defined as "all the consequences of an organisation's activities on its stakeholders and on society as a whole" (Sibieude & Claverie, 2011, p. 8). The Foundation's objective is therefore to design a structured approach enabling it to assess the effectiveness of its philanthropic engagement and to enhance the visibility and value of its actions among both internal and external stakeholders.
