Résumé

Daher is a family-owned company and a leader in industrial logistics in France. Throughout its 150-year industrial history, Daher has faced major logistical challenges and has an excellent understanding of the problems and solutions involved. It has developed a range of proven methods and specific tools to support its customers in large-scale operations.
The Transport and Project Services activity is at the "heart of Daher's DNA", based on its historical expertise in meeting major logistical challenges, this activity manages major logistics projects for major prime contractors such as Iter in Cadarache. Daher's expertise is based on its exclusive digital data management tools (Control Room, Daher Analytics, E-Road Book, Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence) and a solid methodology to support large-scale operational deliveries, from design to completion, ensuring safety and optimisation.
Despite its recognised expertise, Daher is still a small player in the management of major logistics projects. They mainly respond to tenders in France but have not yet started to develop their activities internationally.
In which country should they start your international development?

Objectifs pédagogiques

The first objective of the case is to give a concrete illustration of the internationalisation of a French family business in a little-known B2B service sector.
The second objective is to encourage participants to analyse the main international business issues at stake.
The third objective is to provide a real case for participants learning how to select a priority foreign market.
The fourth objective is to train participants in convincing a board of directors.
The fifth objective is to train participants to gather relevant information from various online origins in order to act as professionals who need to make a decision of international business development in new countries. To make this case more realistic it was not possible to put every data and information in this document. This research can be time consuming according to the level of requirement of each participant. Thanks to this exercise they will have the opportunity to learn to be efficient and prioritize information to use and to present.
Some additional objectives are to reach an analytical know-how in terms of analysing a complex situation with different types of actors and different contexts; to develop an ability to abstract, contextual understanding and critical analysis in order to propose an international development plan for Daher's logistics project management activity.
