Résumé

This case study aims to provide a methodology for estimating the carbon footprint generated by the wine tourism activities in Bordeaux, France, quantified and analyzed the results, and compared the greenhouse gas emissions for the subcategories: accommodation, transportation, activities, and internet usage.

Objectifs pédagogiques

- Improve the students understanding of the different components of wine tourism (accommodation, transportation, activities, internet)
- Increase the students' awareness of the complexity of the carbon footprint assessment and the specificity of the wine sector impact
- Analyze different possible options of the activities proposed for wine tourists
- Propose the thorough detailed analysis of the different the greenhouse gas emissions for the different subcategories
- Consider the possible activities which could be beneficial for the wine regions and wine estates in terms of sustainable terms and low carbon footprints
