This case study questions students about the sustainability strategy of a food processing and packaging solutions company.
In the first set of questions, students are asked to analyse and map Tetra Pak's current situation. In particular, they will have to identify Tetra Pak's stakeholders and describe their respective interests.
The second set of questions will enable students to gain a better understanding of the company's overall sustainability strategy and its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The third and fourth sets of questions are designed to either promote more in-depth classroom discussions or support sessions specifically dealing with the materiality assessment or with corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting.
A. Assessment of the company's current situation
- Identify stakeholders of a company and explain their interests and expectations.
- Understand trade-offs but also mutually beneficial opportunities.
B. The SDGs & Tetra Pak's sustainable development strategy
- Analyse Tetra Pak's sustainable development strategy.
- Understand the role that a world's leading company in food processing and packaging solutions, can play in contributing to the SDGs.
C. Materiality assessment
- Understand how the materiality matrix is constructed.
- Take a critical look at the materiality matrix and propose action plans for the most critical issues faced by the company.
D. EU Corporate Social Responsibility Directive
-Understand the regulatory changes to CSR reporting (NFRD vs CSRD) and what this means for companies.
