La Tricyclerie's business model is built around three main activities:
collecting and composting waste from business customers and, since late 2020, also from individual customers, re-distributing and selling the compost, and offering training and consulting services.
It has won several awards, received considerable media attention as a social enterprise and is now being approached by several French cities (over 200) that want to introduce a similar service and have asked La Tricyclerie to expand its service or at least to provide consultancy.
In addition, more customers in Nantes, its hometown in France, want to use the services.
Students will be asked
- to analyse and map the current situation of La Tricyclerie,
- to explore the real challenges of scaling a social business
- to develop a growth strategy for the company.
- to reflect on the food value chain and the often ignored importance of responsible leadership in (social) entrepreneurial ventures.
- Assessing the Current Situation of the Company
- Identify stakeholders of a social enterprise and articulate their interests and expectations.
- Understand the challenges and tensions of social entrepreneurship/hybrid ventures.
- Understand trade-offs but also mutually beneficial opportunities.
- Get familiar with a framework to measure the social impact of the company
