Résumé

This case study describes current characteristics of the global brewing sector and the growth strategies adopted by the main leaders. It shows the global leader AB InBev's strategy. AB InBev owns more than 200 brands around the world. The case presents the strategic options for AB InBev, who is looking for new growth opportunities to deal with a mature and highly competitive market. Rumors are forecasting that AB InBev is about to purchase the second global leader, SABMiller. This case study allows students to establish an external strategic diagnostic of the brewing sector, to analyze AB InBev's growth strategy (the relevance of eventually purchasing the number 2 leader) and to formulate and evaluate recommendations on growth modalities, by considering diverse development scenarios.
