This case study analyses the success and strategic challenges of the French brand Sézane, founded in 2013 and now a leading name in 'accessible premium' masstige women's ready-to-wear.
The brand has established itself as a DNVB, controlling its value chain and maintaining a direct relationship with its community.
With a strong brand identify, storytelling centred on the 'Parisienne' and a scarcity strategy via 'drops', Sézane combines e-commerce with physical retail outlets, developing a successful omnichannel model.
However, the brand must preserve its desirability and perceived quality as it expands internationally.
It faces criticism regarding the consistency between scarcity, premium image and responsible engagement. The central challenge is therefore to determine how Sézane can continue to grow without diluting its identity or losing its strategic advantage.
- Understand the main transformations in the ready-to-wear market and analyse the strategic potential of the accessible premium segment. Conduct a SWOT analysis of the brand
- Analyse Sézane's desired and perceived positioning, as well as its value proposition. Reconstruct the brand's marketing mix
- Understand why Sézane can be considered a DNVB, and analyse the role of digital, direct-to-consumer and omnichannel strategies in its growth
- Propose development paths that are consistent with the brand's DNA in order to reconcile international growth, desirability, perceived quality and the credibility of its CSR commitments
